Anatomy and Histology Journal of Indonesia (ANHJALI) is committed to maximizing the reach and reuse of all published content. Authors retain copyright of their work, and all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain full copyright of their published articles in ANHJALI. Upon acceptance, authors grant ANHJALI a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and archive the article in all formats, in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license terms.

ANHJALI does not claim ownership of the intellectual content of any published article. The copyright remains with the author(s), who are free to reuse, republish, or build upon their own work without requiring permission from the journal — provided the original publication in ANHJALI is appropriately cited.

The only requirement under CC BY 4.0 is that the original work is properly attributed. You must:

Cite the journal name, volume, issue, year, and DOI
Link to the CC BY 4.0 license
Indicate if any changes were made to the original
Do not imply the licensor endorses your use
3. Author Rights & Permitted Reuse

Because authors retain copyright, they may reuse their own published work without requesting permission from ANHJALI. The following uses are explicitly permitted for authors:

Include in Thesis or Dissertation

Authors may freely include their published article, or any part of it, in a thesis or dissertation submitted to any institution. A reference to the original ANHJALI publication is recommended.

Reuse in Future Publications

Authors may reuse portions of their published article — including text, figures, tables, and data — in future scholarly works, provided appropriate citation of the original ANHJALI article is included.

✓ ALLOWED

Post to Repositories & Personal Websites

Authors may post the published Version of Record (PDF from ANHJALI) to their personal/institutional website, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Zenodo, institutional repositories, or any preprint server — with no embargo period.

Present at Conferences

Authors may freely present findings from their published article at academic conferences, seminars, and workshops, and may distribute printed or digital copies of the article to attendees.

Authors and third parties may translate the article into other languages, provided the original authorship, journal name, and DOI are clearly credited, and a note indicating the translation is included.

4. Third-Party Content in Manuscripts

Where a manuscript includes figures, tables, images, or other content originally published elsewhere, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions and ensuring the content is appropriately attributed. ANHJALI requires the following:

Previously Published Figures & Tables

Authors must obtain written permission from the original copyright holder (typically the publisher) before reproducing previously published figures, tables, or substantial text. Proof of permission must be provided to ANHJALI upon request. The original source must be cited in the figure/table caption.

Histological & Microscopy Images

Images of histological sections, gross anatomy specimens, or clinical photographs must be original or appropriately licensed. Patient images must be de-identified or accompanied by written patient consent. AI-generated anatomical or histological images may not be presented as original research data.

Open Access & Creative Commons Content

Content licensed under CC BY or other open licenses may generally be reused without additional permission, provided the original source, authors, license type, and any modifications are clearly stated in the caption or acknowledgements.

5. How to Cite ANHJALI Articles

When citing or attributing any content from ANHJALI, please include the following elements. The preferred citation format follows Vancouver style (recommended for biomedical journals):

6. Research Data Ownership

ANHJALI does not claim ownership over the underlying research data of any published article. Data ownership and responsibility remain with the author(s) and/or their institution. However, ANHJALI strongly encourages open data practices:

Open Data Deposition

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in publicly accessible repositories (Zenodo, Figshare, OSF, INAHEA, or institutional repositories) and provide a data availability statement.

Data Availability Statement

All manuscripts should include a Data Availability Statement describing where and how the underlying data can be accessed, or explaining why data cannot be shared.

Data Integrity

Authors must retain original research data for a minimum of 5 years after publication and must be able to provide it upon reasonable request from editors or relevant oversight bodies.

7. Requesting Permissions

Under CC BY 4.0, formal permission from ANHJALI is not required for most uses of published content — sharing, reuse, adaptation, and commercial use are all permitted, as long as proper attribution is provided.
